Last Friday we observed together with about 70 students the longest total lunar eclipse of the century.The event started in the late afternoon and we could use the telescopes of the Solar Physics UTOV group to observe all the seven major “stars” known to the ancients in a single night: the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars (just during the days of its great opposition), Saturn, Jupiter, and the Moon in eclipse. With this total lunar eclipse event we have concluded the three happenings of this year Eureka program, organized for the students by the Physics Department with the collaboration of AISF – Local Committee Roma Tor Vergata.
Venerdì scorso abbiamo osservato insieme con circa 70 studenti l’eclissi totale di Luna più lunga del secolo. Lo spettacolo non si è concluso con l’eclissi, dal pomeriggio abbiamo potuto osservare grazie ai telescopi del gruppo Solar Physics UTOV tutti e sette i principali astri noti agli antichi in un solo giorno: il Sole, Mercurio, Venere, Marte (proprio durante i giorni della grande opposizione), Saturno, Giove, e per finire proprio la Luna in eclissi. Con l’evento dell’eclissi totale di luna abbiamo concluso positivamente le tre iniziative del programma Eureka di quest’anno, organizzate dal Dipartimento per gli studenti in collaborazione con AISF – Comitato Locale Roma Tor Vergata.
